Dell Dimension 8400
Desktop PC Review
One of the high end desktop systems is for sure the Dell Dimension 8400 desktop PC
With it's superfast Intel 3.6 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor it'll easily stay for a long time in the top segment. The Tower itself is a great-looking design from the surface as well as the inside.
The installation of drives goes quite simple, instead of screws this PC system uses a rail-system which speaks for itself.
This Dell 8400 PC turns high-tech theory into practice which you can experience with the newest technology in the Dell Dimension 8400.
Looking at the price for similar desktops we find that the Dell
8400 comes with a fair pricing, yet giving one access to use the newest
technology in all it's glory.
The best use, we recommend, for the Dell 8400 would be as multimedia desktop at home or in a small business.
To really use it as a good gaming platform it is best to do some upgrades; an excellent choice would be the GeForce 6600 GT, this card comes only as a PCI Express card.
Another option for a good upgrade is the memory, another 512 MB will make sure that, for quite some time, the future won't hold memory-hungry surprises on your Dell 8400.
Also consider DDR2 technology is used for memory, this means extra performance for anything you're planning to run on it.
A good 7200 RPM hard drive will do just fine for most tasks unless you plan to do some intense data read/write operations to disk. In the latter we'd recommend one of those lightspeed 10000 RPM Raptor drives which come in all kinds of capacity. Together with the 17" CRT monitor the Dell 8400 makes a seriously great deal to spend your well-earned money on. Or, if you can spend a bit more you might go for a nice TFT monitor, especially if you're very sensitive to CRT monitors which can make certain people experience dizziness and the like when gaming for example.
All in all, this is a real
high-performance desktop PC made by Dell.
The graphics card might not make it suitable for diehard gamers but looking further, you see the newest technology is present and at your fingertips.
If you plan to upgrade then rest assured that there is enough space to add almost anything you want and more.
On a sidenote; the Dell 8400 comes with a 350 Watt power supply, adding more hardware, I'd recommend you think about upgrading to a 400 Watt power supply.
As a lot of people come to know, Dell offers their products with all kinds of extras like doubling the memory or additional hardware free of charge, so stay alert.
If it is just about the price, then all we can say is take it when
you can! The case might not look that attractive but don't they say,
"don't judge a book by its cover?" Be sure and check out the Dell
8400 now.
