Guide to Installing an AGP Graphics Card

Graphics cards simply slot into the motherboard.

AGP graphics cards must be installed into an AGP slot. AGP slots are only for graphics cards and look like PCI slots except that they are brown and not white.

Take a look at the picture below. It shows an AGP graphics card being installed. You can see the white PCI slots along side.

PCI slots are where you install things like modems and soundcards.

In the picture below, the AGP slot is marked with a red arrow. Once the card is slotted in you must screw it to the case using the bracket in the top left of the picture.

Once the PC has been fully reassembled, it is time to boot up and load the video drivers. Once Windows loads, it will detect the new hardware and attempt to load the appropriate drivers. With CD auto-play functionality, you simply insert the driver CD and follow the on-screen instructions.

You will have to reboot one time to get it working but you don't change graphics cards every day do you?
